Simple Beauties Giveaway

I've been a bit out of touch the past few days - my husband and I had some family come into town - including our young niece and nephew (4 and 5). They had an absolute blast - we live on the coast and they live in the Midwest. They loved the ocean and we spent hour after hour there looking for shells and feeling the waves crash against us. They were able experience things here they hadn't before and we were able to share that experience and create some family memories.

The magic simplicity of the family vacation.

I started thinking about the vacations my family took when I was a child. Every year we went to the UP to visit my grandparents - which was great! One year we took a camping trip with them to Copper Harbor. This was such a fun trip - I remember thinking it seemed so far away and how cool it was to travel with them - my parents and I had a "three man tent" (which we all know is really for one) and the grandparents were in a camper - which I thought was just the coolest thing! The trip was jam-packed - we toured lighthouses and mines, hunted for fossils and copper (found some too), when to tourist trap souvenir shops and bought postcards and tee shirts. It was a fun trip and definitely created some lasting memories. Thinking about this trip reminded me how exciting it was to find those glimmers of the copper we hunted - the simple beauty.

So now it's time for the giveaway! Leave me a comment with a few lines about your magic family vacation or share the simple beauty you find in your family and enter to win your choice of my new Simple Beauties line of jewelry.

  1. The simple beauty that I find in my family is that they are always there for me and encourage me to do the things that inspire me. When ever I need someone to talk to my mom is just a phone call away no matter the time. My fiance that took me in two years ago has never left my side, We have our ups and downs but on the inside he is simply beautiful. He is always there for me to lift me when I am down and he loves me that makes my family beautiful and very appriciative to me. I have never really had a vacation due to growing up we was not that rich. but what we did together was magicgal to me. I am thankful for my family everyday and they are what keeps me motivated

  2. I love my family, they are the first priority. I miss hangout with my parents. I hope someday we able to go holiday as family again. The magical I feel is that they are both separate but they are still together in heart.

  4. Hi! I am in a big family, eight children. So many great memories of packing into the station wagon to head for our mountain property. My parents have passed but the family agreed to hold on to the land, still enjoy our gatherings and pass it on to the nephews and nieces. New memories always made and we know Mom and Pop smile that we still get together and love their place.

  5. I visited your shop and adore the jewelery with the vintage images. If you get a chance to visit my blog, you will understand why. I make collages using vintage images. My favorite is the "vintage lady" necklace. I love the bead colors and tones of the image. All your jewelery is lovely.

  6. Anytime I have any time off, I go visit my family in Maryland. It's great, we all get together and can't stop laughing. My grandparents are in their late 80s and still so much fun to hang out with! :)

  9. The simple beauty that i find in my family is that they have always been there for me no matter what, there has been hard times that we've gone through, but no matter how hard the times have been they have always supported me. I owe a lot to my parents for being so patient with me. As well as i love my husband for being so patient and accepting with me, and the things that i say or do sometimes that i don't mean, and he still loves me to pieces. I love my kids too because, i can see the beauty in their innocence, and the way that they can forgive anything because of that, and still smile and play so carelessly and free.

  13. We took one major family vacation the year before our oldest graduated from HS. (in '97). We bought a second hand popup camper, and a two man tent (we have six kids) and went cross country! We live in northern Maine...went all the way to northern Calif, up to Calgary for the stampede and back home again! What a trip...it was great! The kids talk of it still. Took us 5 years to save up, and we ok'ed it with his boss a year in advance to take 6 weeks off work....2 without pay. A trip of a lifetime!

  16. the beauty of 'my family' is that it is mine. =) i was married last summer & we have since aquired two children- our feline kitties (14 mo & 3 mo), Lucy & Violet. Growing up in a divorced home... i love the simplicity & stability in our home. Our cats have such personalities, i call us a family of 4. our small 900 ft townhome is a almost perfect fit for us (it'd be perfect if it had closets!) & we live in a tiny little 'village' outside a big city. i love being able to create a life & home that share so much about our personalities & who we are. =)

  18. my family and i have taken a lot of memorable trips over the years but the most memorable one to me was when my family and i travelled to new york city after 9/11 to pay our respects to those who had fallen victim to a horrible act. it's not what i would call the typical enjoyable and relaxing trip but it meant a lot to me.

  21. My family vacations were always an adventure - one time we got caught in a storm on the edge of Lake Erie - pulled up the tent, stakes and all, shoved it into the back of the van, and drove off! It was a fantastic time, even if we were all soaked! It was about learning and experiencing new things together, and I value it to this day!

  22. A simple, beautiful memory from a family vacation -- one winter, my family (parents and four kids ages 8, 6, 3, and 1) drove from our home in Kansas to the Texas coastline. It was the first time any of us kids had been to the beach, and when we got there it was a cool, misty evening. The weather didn't deter us from heading to the beach immediately and experiencing the ocean for the first time in sweatshirts, rolled up jeans, and bare feet.

  28. One vaction I enjoyed with my family was our trip to disney world. It was horrible. It's was crowded because it was new years, and it flooded from 17 hours of rain. It wasn't the best vaction, but afterwards, we had so many funny stories about the trip.

  29. My favorite vacation involves going to the beach. I love the beach and most of my family does too. So everyone would be extra happy/joyful and I find the beach/sea magical on it's own.

    Good luck everyone! =)

  32. My mom inherited a primitive hunting cabin on a lake in Wisconsin. I grew up in NC, and every couple of summers my family would make the trek north via car. Everything about the vacation was an adventure. The car ride, the wisconsin food (cheese and ice cream!), and the spectacular cabin complete with a double seater outhouse and a water pump. It was magical!
