Today is my first day back from vacation - I think those Mondays are always the toughest. I came back to 11 voices mails, 126 email messages and a broken fax machine
Wow - it is a crazy rainy day here! Is your day crazy too? If it is (or even if it isn't) take a moment to mellow out. Rainy days always make me mellow - and usually wish I could be at home curled up with my cat and watching movies with my Dixie dog and beloved husband. But, since I'm at work instead, I think I'll make some fresh, hot coffee and enjoy the sound of the rain. Will you join me?
Welcome to Mellow out Monday! Do your weeks start out crazy? My sure does - especially after a holiday, the phones seem to ring louder and more often and everyone is a little cranky that they aren't still enjoying their holiday. So take a moment, and mellow out - you deserve it!
It's Monday again...and if your Mondays are anything like mine, you could probably use a little break. Take a minute from your crazy day and Mellow out...
I am fortunate to live in coastal region with my wonderful husband and our long walks on the beach and treasure hunting in antique stores allow for some amazing inspiration and materials. Throughout my explorations as an artist, I have always been drawn to tiny objects and nature. I often find myself coming home from a walk with a collection of shells, bits of driftwood, tiny feathers, stones, twigs and other random bits and found objects I just can’t resist. These collections spill over in my studio and make their way into my daily life as I surround myself with these bits and baubles.
Jewelry provides the perfect canvas for these tiny objects and trinkets. As I arrange and assemble these bits I image they come from some sort of history…a story of their travels and I try to reference a sense of this throughout the piece. This is why each and every piece is individual and unique.
Much of my inspiration comes from my surroundings as well some of my heros…Georgia O’Keefe, Frida Kahlo, my mom …
